Music Monday - I Wonder If I Take You Home

It's a song that I picked out of the blue and surely a far cry from what we usually choose for Music Monday. LisaLisa and the Cult Jam was a favorite during the 80's, and this song "I Wonder If I Take You Home" was often played on the airwaves. Personally, I just hear these on the radio when I ride on the Downtown loop jeepney after school hours :) I don't remember having those boom boxes then, oh yeah, sometimes I borrow from a relative. And, yes, I remember someone pawned his humongous stereo component with huge speakers to our family hence I got to enjoy the loud music!

... Anyways, this song reminds me of an 80's mixtape my cousins and I share. It was what I called 'gold tape' because of it's yellow metallic cover. This mixtape was possibly dubbed in the US and taken back home to the Philippines by my balikbayan cousins. Am still looking for the tracks there as I remember .. was it Stacey Q's- Two of Hearts? Point Of No Return? Tell It To My Heart? The Jets' Crush On You? I think there was also something about Adam and Eve yet I forgot the lyrics. To 40-somethings, help me jog my memory :))

Music Monday - Tayo'y Mag-Rock n Roll By Paola Luz

I'll be featuring two upbeat songs I used to play on our old German turntable, which was the only "stereo" I had back then in 1989. Because of that, I've been a collector of 45 rpm records since I learned to save up. Alas, because I've had a short attention span, I lost all of those 45 rpm records :( Thanks to Youtube for the availability!

This song reminds me so much of those evenings I would play one record after the other. I always played them as the mood inspires me, yet I always play "Wild, Wild West" by the Escape Club, then Laura Branigan's "Power Of Love", then Paola Luz' "Tayo'y Mag-Rock N Roll" :)) My memories come back to me better when it's being from my heart ;-)

Music Monday - Meet Me Halfway

To be in love with love itself once made me truly happy in my heart, in my mind and I think it affected everything around me so much that all things went well. This was during the 80's - as you can guess by now I'm a huge fan - I love this song because it reminds me of a classmate in high school and all the memories that go with it of all our classmates. I can't say anything more, but it's kind of related to a popular post here about the high school I went to. Turns out this time I have a good friend after all. Smile! Life goes on...

P.S. This entry I posted because of August 27. It's a memory game for me if I can remember each important date in my friends' lives :)

Music Monday - Too Young

Can't say much why I'm sentimental with this. I need just a little push to get up each day despite an illness that seems to cling to me. Oh no, nothing major just a low resistance to infection I think. You know me, stubborn and won't go to a doctor. The thought of the blood pressure monitor scares me and drives me insane. But I'm well now, thanks to water therapy and music :)

I'd like to share this other 1986 favorite song that's so close to my heart. (Yes, same with "With You All The Way") It's by Jack Wagner who also popularized "All I Need" among others. Back to the 80s again today!

Happy MM, everyone!

Music Monday - With You All The Way

I'm combining this Music Monday post with my Chriss Retro favorites today.

With You All The Way by The New Edition is one of my most-loved songs to listen to. I guess I know every word, every lyric and emotion that comes with it by now. It was rated a few times as most played song in the summer of '86 at our local radio station (hmm, now I remember 104.7 DWON as well).

Great start this month of August, Happy MM to all!

Blogthings - What 80s Karaoke Song Are You?

You Are "Like a Virgin"

If you were transported back to the 80s, your life would be all about absorbing everything.

You are practically a virgin (or born again virgin) when it comes to the 80s, and all things 80s are very interesting to you.

You would sign your heart out to every Madonna hit and memorize every line in the Breakfast Club.

You'd have the biggest record collection, roller skate like a champ, and would be a dead ringer for Molly Ringwald or Kirk Cameron!

Ooh, whatever that means, hehe! I'm truly an 80s fan as always, I never get enough of those movies, songs, tv shows and re-runs however corny my kids think they are.

Christinchen of the 80's - Top Songs of 1988

(this is still the partial list of songs from 1988 yet I can't wait to share)

Oh, dear, I know I jumped plenty years ahead to feature songs of 1988 first instead of beginning from 1980. But I so like 1988 best of all, reason why I'm featuring them now. 1988 was my best year by far, here's why: on the average 8 out of 10 prayers answered... problems breezed through as if nothing happened... topped 6th at the dreaded NCEE... got accepted in 3 colleges... surprisingly did well in math that year (yeah, Physics, Algebra and Trigonometry) ... it was a great year... awesome friends even the "bullies" in my class didn't bother me much... well, prayers about love life were not really answered, but it turned out in the end (hahahaha, as if I had a love life!)... well you get my drift ;)

So here's a quick look at the 100 of the most striking, singular tunes from 1988 that I'm sure people my age would appreciate- I hope! haha... some pop hits are pretty lame but still makes you go nostalgic. Enjoy the download, will just add more. And, yeah, any suggestions to add please?
