Ha-ha! Yeah, why oh why would I post this?! Just reminds me of my fondness of California/ LA / Bay Area suburbs. Been missing my folks there and the fun times of my adulthood. Yet with this music video, it's a WHAT?!? moment... my cousins would sure be teasing me about it and would say "hey, Chriss, we didn't know you're a fan of Gerardo!".. well actually I'm only with this vid, coz I found it funny then... in my pinoy translation thoughts "matapang ang apog nya" ... :)
I miss California, I miss my cousins and other relatives. I wish I could be there again someday...
It's a song that I picked out of the blue and surely a far cry from what we usually choose for Music Monday. LisaLisa and the Cult Jam was a favorite during the 80's, and this song "I Wonder If I Take You Home" was often played on the airwaves. Personally, I just hear these on the radio when I ride on the Downtown loop jeepney after school hours :) I don't remember having those boom boxes then, oh yeah, sometimes I borrow from a relative. And, yes, I remember someone pawned his humongous stereo component with huge speakers to our family hence I got to enjoy the loud music!
... Anyways, this song reminds me of an 80's mixtape my cousins and I share. It was what I called 'gold tape' because of it's yellow metallic cover. This mixtape was possibly dubbed in the US and taken back home to the Philippines by my balikbayan cousins. Am still looking for the tracks there as I remember .. was it Stacey Q's- Two of Hearts? Point Of No Return? Tell It To My Heart? The Jets' Crush On You? I think there was also something about Adam and Eve yet I forgot the lyrics. To 40-somethings, help me jog my memory :))

Beginning a great Monday! Song from the Salsa movie soundtrack of 1988 is my entry for this week. It's a movie starred in by Robby Rosa of Menudo fame, that's the reason why I watched it back then. I love this classic upbeat song, I hope you enjoy as well! Happy MM!
Margarita
The sun in her hair
The tropical hymn
The smell of the sea
With her next to me
She's got the touch that I ache for so much
My muchachita
It's more than her eyes
More than her voice
More than her smile
That leaves you no choice
Straight from the pain yes of love
She was born Margarita
And if I could get back to that dream
I know she'll be there
Waiting for me
Margarita
In my dreams we are together
And our love goes on forever
When I awake, I'm not there
Mi Margarita
I will search until I'll find you
And the roses will remind you
And I will wake inside the dream
Me fui, viajé
Y años después
Tú con tu flor
No era ilusión
Entre la gente al buscarte un fusil me apuntaba
Te vi alejar
Y caminé
Cuanto soñar
Tanto cambié
Es increíble que estés frente a mí
Muchachita
De repente su mano sentí
A su casa yo entré
Y allí entendí
Margarita
Que tú siempre has sido mía
Eras tú mi compañía
Desde otra vida lo sé
Mi Margarita
Hoy que estás en agonía
Sé que es nuestra muchachita
La que nos une otra vez
Puso en sus manos la flor
Sus ojos cerró
My Margarita
En el cuarto surgió confusión
Todo el mundo lloró
Y fue feliz
Mi muchachita
Sé que sientes alegría
Ananana sé que anhelas
Que conmigo siempre estes

Congratulations, Ms. KZ Tandingan! She won last night's X Factor Philippines Grand Finals! What a splendid season with her on X-Factor Philippines. Her songs are much-awaited every Saturday night by her huge number of followers, me included. She truly deserves to win and the Philippines celebrate with her!
I'll be featuring two upbeat songs I used to play on our old German turntable, which was the only "stereo" I had back then in 1989. Because of that, I've been a collector of 45 rpm records since I learned to save up. Alas, because I've had a short attention span, I lost all of those 45 rpm records :( Thanks to Youtube for the availability!
This song reminds me so much of those evenings I would play one record after the other. I always played them as the mood inspires me, yet I always play "Wild, Wild West" by the Escape Club, then Laura Branigan's "Power Of Love", then Paola Luz' "Tayo'y Mag-Rock N Roll" :)) My memories come back to me better when it's being from my heart ;-)

To be in love with love itself once made me truly happy in my heart, in my mind and I think it affected everything around me so much that all things went well. This was during the 80's - as you can guess by now I'm a huge fan - I love this song because it reminds me of a classmate in high school and all the memories that go with it of all our classmates. I can't say anything more, but it's kind of related to a popular post here about the high school I went to. Turns out this time I have a good friend after all. Smile! Life goes on...
P.S. This entry I posted because of August 27. It's a memory game for me if I can remember each important date in my friends' lives :) get the mp3 version here

Music Monday time again this week for me and my blog. Whoa! It has been awhile!
I just missed "Your Song" from the Moulin Rouge movie when I heard this other rendition by another Youtube star. I love the way she delivers the song here. Happy MM everyone!

Most memorable song, also much loved by most of my hopelessly romantic friends and a few nephews and nieces. :) The song is so touching, and makes me wishful indeed.
Endless Love was an old movie way back in the early 80's, which I was able to see during 1986 at a local moviehouse in our province. It's a movie that I watched 3 times that week, I guess. First, awed by Brooke Shields Pretty Baby's beauty - who in my book - has the prettiest face ever; Second, getting goosebumps by the love Martin Hewitt and Brooke portrayed on screen; Third, having my own personally intense feelings of being in love with love itself. Ask me why, perhaps those feelings were taken from all the tv shows and movies I watched as an adolescent - during the tumultous times in my life.
As I look back now, yah, now that I'm almost 40, does such love ever exist? Or does that kind of love fade after many years? Where is indeed the first love, if the foundation has been topsy-turvy from the start? Thanks to this movie, I'm looking back to what once was, how I tried to find it before and how I found it at last. I pray, may the peace, love, harmony and happiness live again! I dedicate this song to all the romantics - err, and especially the hopeless romantics!
Endless Love
My love, There’s only you in my life The only thing that’s bright
My first love, You’re every breath that I take You’re every step I make
And i I want to share All my love with you No one else will do...
And your eyes Your eyes, your eyes They tell me how much you care Ooh yes, you will always be My endless love
Two hearts, Two hearts that beat as one Our lives have just begun
Forever I’ll hold you close in my arms I can’t resist your charms
And love Oh, love I’ll be a fool For you, I’m sure You know I don’t mind Oh, you know I don’t mind
’cause you, You mean the world to me Oh I know I know I’ve found in you My endless love
Oooh, and love Oh, love I’ll be that fool For you, I’m sure You know I don’t mind Oh you know- I don’t mind
And, yes You’ll be the only one ’cause no one can deny This love I have inside And I’ll give it all to you My love My love, my love My endless love

Time for Music Monday once again, and a time to go back doing my life's purpose. It's been quite a long while since I posted any entry nor commented on fellow bloggers' sites. But I'm back and will catch up with you all.
This song I'm contributing for this Music Monday echoes my thoughts this week in this chaotic world. This song reminds me, nothing is too difficult for the Lord. Absolutely nothing!
Happy Music Monday and blessings to you, my friends!

Can't say much why I'm sentimental with this. I need just a little push to get up each day despite an illness that seems to cling to me. Oh no, nothing major just a low resistance to infection I think. You know me, stubborn and won't go to a doctor. The thought of the blood pressure monitor scares me and drives me insane. But I'm well now, thanks to water therapy and music :)
I'd like to share this other 1986 favorite song that's so close to my heart. (Yes, same with "With You All The Way") It's by Jack Wagner who also popularized "All I Need" among others. Back to the 80s again today!
Happy MM, everyone!

I'm combining this Music Monday post with my Chriss Retro favorites today.
With You All The Way by The New Edition is one of my most-loved songs to listen to. I guess I know every word, every lyric and emotion that comes with it by now. It was rated a few times as most played song in the summer of '86 at our local radio station (hmm, now I remember 104.7 DWON as well).
Great start this month of August, Happy MM to all!

Just came across this from Youtube and found out it was sung by Aegis Band. I thought this song was an ordinary Christian music, then I recall that a lady from our church sang it during intermission time. I loved listening to the song then and exclaimed, 'You sing just like Aegis band!" not knowing the lady is also from Aegis band's province. I like the message very much!

This Christian song is one of my favorites and most memorable. I first heard it in 1993 and surely it brings good memories to our other churchmates. I searched and searched for this on Youtube, glad that I found it. (Courtesy goes to the uploader)
Time to go back to the 80's with no other than THE JETS! This song has quite a catchy tune, I don't think it was my fave during those times though.
But hey, I am a big fan of THE JETS around my high school graduation in 1988. I love "Make It Real" and "Rocket 2 U" everytime. Wish talents like these would be back :)
Happy MM!

Soundtrack from my favorite 80's John Hughes movie Some Kind Of Wonderful, I love love love this movie I wish I can get it on Netflix but for now I just watch the videos on Youtube. I've been watching movies from that genre lately out of sheer sentimentality. It still amuses me as it did at first, especially Watts and Keith's rescue by their motley crew of friends.

After 23 years, when you 'fess up and say "Hey, did you know I once had a huge crush on you and you didn't even know I existed?" Talk about End of the World May 21st Confessions, I guess. This is just tiny newsfeed as confided to me by a friend on Facebook.
Imagine the shock on that someone's face, or if it was you! Yes, it happened to my batchmates - twice - and in one day. One was face to face at a reunion, the other simply online because both were overseas.
How romantic! If only it didn't happen now but during the yesteryears. As my hubby would often say, difficult to live in the past, we have to let go. (Note: Hubby and I were former classmates in high school)

So come next high school reunion, as I try to get into the character, this would be my song, "Walk On By" Also my song when I pass by the house of my creditors (Five-Six) :)))
"Pink*Jeep"as my youngest's favorite phrase when he was little, it's when he's got nothing else to say or when he's simply kidding. Since those were his words of the season, it stuck with us like a common joke! We think it's his pint-sized expression of "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" :)
