How It Was During Typhoon Pepeng's Landfall

Got this picture from someone's friendster page. See that small blue square on the picture, that's our house. We were on our 2nd floor, thankfully, we were safe.

Based from what we saw on the news about Typhoon Ondoy, I thought of preparing just the important items we cannot do without like matches, candles, charcoal, rice and instant noodles. Also, since rainwater has began to creep into our kitchen, we carried all our things upstairs. Not much was lost, but the pack rat in me thinks I lost a few miscellaneous junk. Our old old old rattan sala set has been soaked in floodwater so we gave it up for our dog's use on our backyard.

It was scary experiencing the floods again, and it was the worst we've experienced so far. Thankfully we are alright, neighbors and relatives were alright too.

I still have this nagging feeling that something should be done regarding saving our environment and that it should start in the baranggay. I remember in March that our baranggay and health officer conducted a seminar regarding the Reduce Reuse Recycle tips. It was a great start, however, as they say, due to lack of government funds they cannot actively do something.

Well, Pilipinas, kumilos ka!

Please Help Typhoon Ondoy victims

This was the scene right by our doorstep last Saturday morning when it was announced that Typhoon Ondoy would also pass by Pangasinan. We still had electricity that time and watched the news of the flash floods in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. From our experience with typhoons in the past, it is my habit to over-prepare. I see to it that most of our papers are kept already in a safe place. My CPU far away from the window... I could go on and on.

But knowing this time that so many people have lost everything so suddenly, even lost family and loved ones, all memories washed away and only saving their own lives.

I wanted to help in anyway I can so I keep posting hi's and hello's on facebook just to inform friends and family what happened in the Philippines... that I'm glad we didn't get affected... that we are okay... that so much has happened in Manila in a night. Relatives from abroad responded, others quickly called on their relatives here. Up to this time, I am also asking for the sake of the victims for donations to be given to Red Cross or to GMA Kapuso and other drop-off points.

A movie I shall always remember of Patrick Swayze

It's very sad that Patrick Swayze passed away. I must admit, he was a very talented actor. He will surely be missed. RIP, Patrick.

I'm posting this movie which deeply moved me to tears way back in the 90's. It still does whenever I watch it. This is the last scene of "Ghost", where I got goosebumps... not to mention an ache that cannot be contained. Wonder why.

There's more to my story of how I remember this movie. I was in the US that time at 19, I stopped school and had to stay there for supposedly a year but just lasted 10 months. It was a turbulent year for me - my mother had cancer while I was in the US with child (my folks thought it best to separate me from my mom so as not to upset her, she was manic depressive, you see)I came back here to the Philippines just days after I finally watched this movie. When I watched this movie, I thought to myself this is sad - not letting your loved one know how you feel about him/her before death. That's the heart-wrenching emotion that I felt.
