Chinese New Year 2014

I myself am in awe of Chinese traditions and festivities though we are not Chinese. I just acquired a little of the culture having resided in a business district in the city where most of my neighbors were Chinese;  got also influenced a little from my classmates in high school and college. What I really like about them is their passion for their work/profession and their expertise in business affairs.  I also like about Chinese culture are the dishes they serve, so special and unique; and the Chinese movies that depict of their ancient traditions.

Staying Home Again And Thinking Of Homesteading

This is me again, loving to live simply. I'm trying my hand at doing something to our 300 square foot backyard again, after a long long time of neglecting it. My decision to just stay home for a while was prompted by my last month's unsuccessful job as receptionist at a spa in Dagupan (ouch, yes, I wasn't paid my 10 days wage so I had to leave); also by these past weeks' out-of-town OFW association meetings where some days we are getting nowhere and having unnecessary expenses. So here I am often online, selling on ebay again... staying home with my family.. and working in the backyard.

The weather is agreeable in our place at the moment. No rains nor floods, just the cold weather we also now exclaim about everyday... "brrr! so cold!" though we are in the Philippines with supposedly humid temperature. Because of this weather, I am in the mood for some project. Working on the clean-up goes first, minding that every task is done in an environment-friendly way. Next is working on restoration of the vermiculture pit, which we never got to use two years ago because of the floods in 2010-2012. Then last would be planting of vegetable seeds: squash, papaya, okra and tomatoes.

Much work still to be done. In the process I found ipil-ipil seeds that I can sell online! So excited of the outcome of my backyard that I know my hours in the early mornings and afternoons will be worth it!
