Teaching Of English As A First Language Nosebleeds

Photos were taken randomly from Friendster, Tumblr, Mylot and Facebook. Credit belongs to the respective owners of the photos.

Posted this just for laughs, not that my English is excellent because it ain't .. just ask my former classmates and my kin, whew!

With these photos that seem funny, I commend Pinoys who try hard to get their point across "basta naka-Ingles, pwede" It's the idea that matters, not minding the grammar. Nobody's perfect :)

Tuesday Couch Potatoes - Cutting Edge

Photobucket>

Time to join TCP again today for their feature films about sports. I can't think of any other movie that I loved but "Cutting Edge" (The first version), our all-time favorite funny love story. This movie brings us fond memories of my hubby and I, during our first year of living together, when we watched the movie on VHS tape then together with his brothers and sisters. The movie was so much fun for us! Watching it made us learn a bit more about the rigors and demands of the Olympic Ice-skating competition which is no mean feat.

Plot Summary goes...

Doug Dorsey and Kate Moseley are both part of the American team at the 1988 Winter Olympics, Doug as the star captain of the hockey team, Kate one half of the national champion pairs figure skating team. They both have a disastrous Olympics, Doug suffering a career ending eye injury, and Kate taking a humiliating fall that she blames on her partner, Brian Newman. Fast forward two years, and both are floundering in the pursuit of their dreams. Working class Doug still falsely clings to the hope of an NHL career, whereas no one of any talent wants to skate with Kate, the rich, spoiled diva. Kate's new coach, the renowned Anton Pamchenko, sees that Doug was a good skater and suggests he try out as Kate's partner. Despite or because of the fact that it is hate at first sight, Doug decides to give the partnership a shot, he who may be the only person who has a strong enough personality to hold up to Kate's. Doug's decision is much to Kate's chagrin, she who will do whatever she can to make Doug, who she considers a Neanderthal, quit despite he being her last shot at pairs glory leading up to the 1992 Nationals and 1992 Winter Olympics. Beyond Doug needing to learn the technical aspects of figure skating compared to skating in a hockey game (especially the fact of having skates with toe picks), the two have to overcome differences in personality, differences in artistic vision (such as deciding what it takes to win) and an equally strong temperament to make their partnership a success. They also have to overcome external obstacles, such as narrow minded judges. But the most important thing they each have to learn is what is truly important in their lives.

Music Monday - Hesus by Aegis

Just came across this from Youtube and found out it was sung by Aegis Band. I thought this song was an ordinary Christian music, then I recall that a lady from our church sang it during intermission time. I loved listening to the song then and exclaimed, 'You sing just like Aegis band!" not knowing the lady is also from Aegis band's province. I like the message very much!

Kung nag-iisa at nalulumbay
Dahil sa hirap mong itinataglay
Kung kailangan mo ng karamay
Tumawag ka at siyay naghihintay

Siya angyong kailangan
Sandigan, kaibigan mo
Siya ang araw mong lagi
At karamay kung sawi
Siya ay si Hesus sa bawat sandali

Kung ang buhay mo ay walang sigla
Laging takot at laging alala
Tanging kay Hesus magkakaasa
Kaligtasa'y lubos na ligaya

Siya ang dapat tanggapin
At kilalanin sa buhay mo
Siya noon bukas ngayon
Ang sa dalangin ko'y tugon
Siya ay si Hesus sa habang panahon

Kaya't ang lagi mong pagkakatandaan
Siya lang ang may pag-ibig na tunay
Pag-ibig na tunay

Rains This Weekend

Just a repost out of a facebook shout-out:

Heavy rains and strong winds remind us of the
challenges in life. Never ask for lighter rain, just ask
for a better and sronger umbrella..Maging responsible na
lang tayo bilang tao para sa ating nag-iisang boat- the earth.

Sana tumigil na ang ulan para maka-recover ang mga nasalanta.
Let us not argue about the cause and effect of the typhoon
that regularly visit our country yearly. These are effects of
Climate Change which we people of the world have done to
the natural resources of Earth. Let us just be ready for the effect
of the melting of the ICEBERG in the North and South Pole.
No one not even the USA can stop the climate change as it
has started already. Let us just pray and hope that the effect
would not be very disastrous to the people of the Earth.

Music Monday- In Christ Alone

This Christian song is one of my favorites and most memorable. I first heard it in 1993 and surely it brings good memories to our other churchmates. I searched and searched for this on Youtube, glad that I found it. (Courtesy goes to the uploader)

Music Monday - Crush On You by The Jets

Time to go back to the 80's with no other than THE JETS!
This song has quite a catchy tune, I don't think it was my fave during those times though.

But hey, I am a big fan of THE JETS around my high school graduation in 1988. I love "Make It Real" and "Rocket 2 U" everytime. Wish talents like these would be back :)

Happy MM!

Music Monday - I Go Crazy by Flesh For Lulu

Soundtrack from my favorite 80's John Hughes movie Some Kind Of Wonderful,
I love love love this movie I wish I can get it on Netflix but for now I just watch the videos on Youtube. I've been watching movies from that genre lately out of sheer sentimentality. It still amuses me as it did at first, especially Watts and Keith's rescue by their motley crew of friends.
